If you speak English and Spanish fluently,

You can help keep our Hispanic/Latino children safe!

Estos son nuestros niños olvidados! Abused and neglected children from Fairfax County's Hispanic/Latino community face a real disadvantage. There are not enough Spanish speaking CASA volunteers to ensure that these boys and girls receive the same care and service as other child victims of abuse.

As a CASA volunteer, your Spanish language skills and cultural knowledge help ensure that children like Ana or Herman grow up in safe and permanent homes.
Six year old Ana suffered beatings at the hands of her father when he could not control his anger. For her safety and with no other family to turn to, Ana was placed in a series of foster homes. Now, Ana's CASA volunteer brings a familiar face and comfort wherever she goes...read more of Ana's story here.

Herman's alcoholic father has been ordered out of the home, but the family struggles to make ends meet. When Herman's CASA volunteer comes to visit, no one has to translate or explain the challenges that he faces... read more of Herman's story here.

Sandy, a CASA volunteer for 15 years, has helped many children find safe and permanent homes. Sandy believes that Hispanic/Latino children are best served by someone who understands their language and culture.

"Having the ability to speak Spanish is even more important when it comes to communicating with the parent of a child. It grants parents the capacity to fully understand the situation they are in. The family is put at ease because they know someone understands them. When parents are provided with a Spanish-speaking volunteer, they can more easily comply with what is expected of them, and by doing so, the child is more likely to remain with his family.”

¡Tú puedes ayudar! Become a CASA volunteer!
Bilingual CASA volunteers can offer Hispanic children and their families the highest level of support.
These volunteers:
  •  remove the language barrier and speak directly with families.
  •  help build rapport and increase family cooperation and compliance.
  •  understand and value the cultural traditions of Hispanic children and families.

¿Qué esperas? Cuando no hay nadie más quien lo haga,

¡TÚ puedes darle voz a un niño!
